YC Edge

GET AHEAD

Aspiration, expectation and entitlement is our mantra and is the guiding principle in setting out the ‘Yeovil Edge’ concept.

  • Have you taken part in clubs and activities outside of school hours?
  • Do you want to carry on when you are at college?
  • Fancy trying something new for fun?

Yeovil Edge is bespoke to Yeovil College and it has been designed to give you an ‘edge’ and differentiate yourself within a crowded marketplace.

At Yeovil College, we encourage students to take part in a wide range of enrichment activities, such as sport, societies, volunteering and fundraising. Taking part in enrichment activities alongside your course is fun, helps you make life-long friends and improves your confidence, health and wellbeing.

You will also develop a range of personal skills, such as team working, organisation and leadership, which are attractive to future employers and universities. Your enrichment experience will make you stand out from the crowd when you apply for work or Higher Education.

What is YC EDGE?

YC Edge encompasses enrichment activities that develop high aspirations, confidence, resilience and encourage a healthy lifestyle and supports students to become well-rounded members of society, confident to progress into their intended career or university destination.

Through Edge, we support our students to develop the underpinning knowledge and self-worth needed to be successful in work and life, whilst developing the mind-set of ‘to expect more, is to achieve more’.

We have designed an extensive enrichment and sports offer which sits firmly within the Yeovil Edge offer. The menu of activities has been aligned to the interests of our students and is continually adjusted to meet the needs of our community.

Activities will not only boost confidence and expose our students to a wide variety of interesting, challenging, and new skills, but will also encourage students to develop a wide and interesting network of friends.

If you are a current Yeovil College student and are interested in the YC Edge offer, please contact your tutor or our DofE and Enrichment Coordinator Amy Coombes on Teams.
