How we use your personal information

We are the data controller of personal information about you. We are Yeovil College and our address is Mudford Road, Yeovil, Somerset BA21 4DR. This privacy notice has been prepared in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. In general terms your personal information is collected and shared with the DfE, the ESFA (an executive agency of the DfE) and any successor bodies to these organisations for education purposes.

We monitor the use of College IT systems and networks where necessary to:

-ensure network and information security;

-comply with safeguarding and legal obligations; and 

-prevent misuse of systems. 

Monitoring is carried out in accordance with our Acceptable Use and IT Security policies and is proportionate and limited to what is necessary.

If you want to browse the internet privately, you will need to use your own devices which are not linked to the College’s network or internet connection. 

Your rights over your personal information

You have a number of rights over your personal information, which are: 

-the right to be informed about how we collect and use your data; 

-the right of access to the personal data we hold about you; 

-the right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data; 

-the right to erasure in certain circumstances; 

-the right to restrict processing; 

-the right to data portability; 

-the right to object to processing, including for direct marketing; 

-rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling; and 

-the right to make a complaint about how we use your personal data; if you have any concerns you can contact us by completing our online complaints form or by contacting us at data.protection@yeovil.ac.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond as promptly as possible within statutory timelines. We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, including for legal, regulatory and audit requirements. Further details are set out in our Retention Policy.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. Any changes we make to our privacy policy in the future will be notified to you by email.
