Access to Higher Education

If your new career path requires you to hold a degree or higher-level qualification, we can help you bridge the gaps in your knowledge and allow you to access opportunities to achieve these qualifications. Access to Higher Education (HE) diplomas are Level 3 qualifications, usually delivered over one year, which are recognised by most universities as a valid alternative route for adults aged 19+ into any relevant degree. Although most universities recognise these diplomas, it is important to check with your chosen university destination(s) and course(s), as some may require specific A Levels or other qualifications to apply.

Degree-Level Qualifications

Part-Time Courses

We offer a range of part-time courses, many of which are taught over one or two days or evenings per week. From hairdressing and barbering to accounting or construction, we offer flexible courses suited to a range of career pathways. Initial Teacher Training

Our Teacher Training qualifications are an important choice for people looking to develop a career in either education or training, beginning at Level 3 with the option to progress up to Level 5. These courses are designed to give you the toolkit needed to plan, deliver and assess effective teaching and learning. Many of our lecturers at Yeovil College have had non-teaching careers in industry, and have chosen to ‘down tools’ to pursue a career in teaching their specialist subject.

Apprenticeships

An Apprenticeship is a real job with real training, which allows trainees to earn while they learn, as well as gain a nationally recognised qualification. This could be the perfect way to take your first steps into a new career and open up opportunities for future progression and promotion.

Apprenticeship training combines workplace experience with study to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers are looking for in your chosen career. You will be employed and undertake training with your employer and at the College, where appropriate. If you are not yet employed, we can even help you find an employer. Our Apprenticeship Coordinators will work intensively with you to help find your ideal job and get you ready for it.
