Careers Hub

The Yeovil College team is committed to ensuring that our learners are ready for the next steps on their career journey. We work closely with the Heart of the Southwest Careers and Enterprise Company to ensure that we are meeting the eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance.

Introduction to Careers

We are extremely excited to welcome you to the Yeovil College Careers Hub. Here you can find out about all the brilliant work we do to prepare you for the workplace. At Yeovil College we have made a significant investment into establishing a strong Careers team, who will challenge and inspire our students to make the most of the wide range of opportunities available to them. We offer a careers programme, which gives our learners the chance to engage with employers and the ‘World of Work’, supporting learners to make informed decisions about their next steps. We aim to raise learners’ aspirations and to be ambitious, as well as supporting them to maximise their potential.

See what our community had to say

Jess has been a successful candidate who we have offered an industry placement to this academic year. She will be able to experience and be taught a range of skills within our catering industry. This includes all areas of food preparation and serving food to the customers in our Hub café whilst being part of our busy commercial cooking team.

Tracey Davis - The Hub Yeovil

Charlotte has grown in confidence since she started here. The patients have also noticed this and commented on it, much to Charlotte’s embarrassment! Charlotte is proactive and is now demonstrating this by reminding me of tasks and asking questions about patients who have failed to attend. Charlotte has been very mature and professional when dealing with staff and family members of patients at the end of life and after death. She does not become inappropriately upset and she has supported members of staff who have been tearful.

Ruth Jolley -  St. Margaret's Somerset Hospice Sunflower Centre Lead

I have enjoyed my time at Williamsons Solicitors on my industry placement. It was difficult at times juggling outside commitments, but it advanced many of my social and technical skills. I would recommend them to any future learner.

James Lock, Level 3 Business student - Williamsons Solicitors

I am very grateful to the Work Experience team at Yeovil College for the support and guidance they provided to help me stay on track and find the best route for me.
I now look forward to getting up and coming to work. I am hoping to progress into a professional, office based role and am looking forward to gain life experience through being in the work place. I am excited to bring a teenagers perspective to making the NHS more digital.

Bethany Lee-McGann - Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice.

These lads are a credit to Yeovil College. They’ve really got involved with the work that they’ve been given and asked a lot of probing questions about the site and construction work in general.

Robert Eagle - Building Manager at Willmott Dixon.
