HIGHER TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (HTQS)

Developed with employers and approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) will provide you with the skills you need to succeed in your career, whether you’re just starting out or are looking to develop your career, upskill or retrain.

HTQs offer a high-quality route for students to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for roles in demand from employers and are aimed at both college and school leavers or those retraining and upskilling. This ensures that learners gain the skills that employers want, and employers can be confident that learners have the knowledge, skills and behaviours for a particular specialist role.

HTQs are based on the same employer developed occupational standards as apprenticeships but don’t require employment as an apprentice.

Key features:

• A high-quality alternative to other routes, such as apprenticeships, traineeships or degrees.
• Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education approved qualifications.
• HTQs are all Level 4 and level 5 qualifications, such as Foundation Degrees, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas.
• The qualifications last between 1 and 2 years full-time, with part-time options available.
