Skills Bootcamps
Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer.
They are being developed by the Government as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs, in partnership with employers, providers and local authorities, to help people develop the skills that are in demand in their local area and get a better job.

Skills Bootcamp in Digital
Course Overview:
Our Skills Bootcamp in Digital training programme is part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs. It has been designed to give individuals the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills for themselves and fast-track them to an interview with a local employer. The IT Department at Yeovil College has brought this government supported initiative to the doorsteps of our local community to assist individuals who are aspiring to jump up on a career in IT.
This Skills Bootcamp is intended to help upskill or reskill 19+ adults within our community so that they are able to fill the high in-demand IT skills that most employers need to thrive in this current all-digital world. The skills and curriculum content planned for delivery have been specially designed in collaboration with local and regional employers from the IT industry. They have co-designed the programme and packed it up with the most desirable skills-set they are looking to recruit for within their organisations.
The UK digital industry is flourishing with great success from all corners. According to recent research, there are hundreds of thousands of new IT job opportunities emerging every month. The digital industry has remained resilient and continued to recruit new talents with average annual income rocketing to about £53,000 – even in the face recent pandemic disruptions.

Course Overview:
Our Skills Bootcamp in Digital Marketing programme is part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs. It has been designed to give individuals the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills for themselves and fast-track them to an interview with a local employer. The Creative Industries Department at Yeovil College has brought this government supported initiative to the doorsteps of our local community to assist individuals who are aspiring to jump up on a career in Digital Marketing.
This Skills Bootcamp is intended to help upskill or reskill 19+ adults within our community so that they are able to fill the high in-demand Digital Marketing skills that most employers need to thrive in this current all-digital world. Skills Bootcamp in 3D Modelling and Printing (CAD)
Course Overview:
Our Skills Bootcamp in 3D Modelling and Printing (CAD) training programme is part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs. It has been designed to give individuals the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills for themselves and fast-track them to an interview with a local employer.
The course will give you an overview and in depth look into both Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) and Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing methods. Including the design of a model using Solidworks Computer Aided Design software, the setup of the printer and fault finding of 3d printed parts.
An overview will also be provided on the use of 3D scanning systems, using an Einscan Pro 2X Plus.
What Will I Learn?
Key topics will include the following:
- Fused Deposition Modelling printers (FDM)
- Stereolithography printers (SLA)
- Basic Solidworks Computer Aided Design skills
- An introduction to 3D Scanning using an EinScan Pro 2X Plus
Terms & Conditions:
- Employers are involved in co-designing and determining the training on offer.
- Eligible learners must be aged 19+ (can be in work, recently unemployed within 12 month, looking to formalise their skills or returning to work).
- Training will be delivered flexibly to allow people currently currently in work, looking for work etc to participate.
- Learners will be recruited using fair and open process producing a cohort that reflects the delivery of the local area.
- Gender diversity is highly encouraged, we will be aiming for a minimum of 50% female learners.
- Everyone trained through a bootcamp will have a guaranteed interview with a participating employer.
- Training must be pitched at level 3 (or equivalent) and above, and last up to and not more than 16 weeks.
- Employers expected to contribute 30% of training cost for each employee referred.
- Self referred candidates get training for free, even if in employment.
