A Levels

Yeovil College Sixth Form Centre has a long tradition of achieving high levels of academic success, offering learners the right support to achieve challenging targets and secure a bright future. A Levels programmes are academic, revolve around classroom learning and are exam based. Many of our A Level students have a clear pathway in mind, with a strong understanding of the career that they would ultimately like to pursue.

T Levels

T Levels are nationally recognised qualifications for 16–19-year-olds that take two years to complete and are equivalent to three A Levels. Leading businesses and employers have helped to design T Levels, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need before they enter the workplace. Students will spend approximately 20% of their time on a substantial work placement, which is around 45 days, and the other 80% engaged in high-quality training in the classroom, blending technical and practical training.

Vocational Qualifications

Vocational qualifications, developed with the support of our business community, provide a clear line of sight to the most important roles within our local economy. Vocational qualifications are practical qualifications designed to prepare students for a specific job or industry. They combine theoretical learning with hands-on experience, often including work placements. These qualifications are available at various levels, from entry-level to advanced.

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a structured programme that combines paid on-the-job training with classroom direction. It prepares students for skilled careers by providing practical experience and theoretical knowledge. Key benefits of an apprenticeship are the ability to earn whilst still learning, hands-on, practical experience, and nationally recognised qualifications, and are ideal for those who want to enter the workforce with valuable, job-ready skills.

Foundation Learning

Foundation Learning and High Needs programmes are designed for students who require extra support and time to progress to a full study programme, live independently, or secure paid employment. Students will work towards an externally accredited qualification, with many progressing to a Level 1 qualification at Yeovil College or joining our Supported Internship programme.

  • Earn while developing knowledge and skills: Apprentices gain valuable experience and a salary simultaneously.
  • Learn job-specific and transferable skills: Apprentices acquire expertise that is applicable in various roles.
