BA (Hons) Business Management and Strategy
The BA (Hons) Business Management and Strategy is a top-up programme that seeks to consolidate and to build upon your prior learning of business and management theories and concepts. The programme also aims to further develop your management skills and to enable you to apply knowledge and skills to your current and future business environments and career goals. The programme encourages the development of professional skills such as human resources, finance, leadership and managing people. The design of the programme balances intellectual and practical skills and requires you to learn through lectures, group work, reflective practice and presenting. The programme will be delivered by Yeovil College University Centre. The duration of the course is 1 academic year for the full-time method of study and 2 academic years for the part-time method of study. This course is designed to allow students who already hold a Level 5 Business qualification, such as a HND or FdA, to 'top-up' to BA (Hons) level. The course operates on a modular basis; the four modules are each 30 academic credits. Each credit taken equates to a total study time of around 10 hours. Total study time includes scheduled teaching, independent study, and assessment activity. Full-time students take modules worth 60 credits per semester, with part-time students taking proportionately fewer credits per semester. All students require 120 credits to achieve the level 6. The full-time and part-time courses have one start point in September. The full-time route is taught over either one day or two evenings per week and takes one year to complete, the part-time route is taught over either half a day or one evening per week and takes two years to complete. This course is designed to allow students who already hold a relevant Level 5 qualification, such as a FdA, to 'top-up' to BA (Hons) level. If you're looking at studying Childhood Studies, Care and Education at university level for the first time, you would need to look at studying another qualification first. At Yeovil College University Centre, we offer the FdA Childhood Studies, Care and Education course, which can be completed first, before then topping-up using the BA (Hons) Childhood Studies, Care and Education.

Foundation Degree Dental Technology
The aim of the Foundation Degree Dental Technology is to produce competent technicians that are able to apply for registration as Dental Technicians with the General Dental Council (GDC) upon successful completion of the programme. Throughout their studies, students should develop the knowledge, practical, intellectual, and behavioural skills necessary for a career in Dental Technology, as well as the potential to progress onto higher learning and/or senior roles. Students completing the course could go on to pursue careers as registered Dental Technicians in a range of NHS and commercial laboratory based organisations, or choose to progress into further study. The course has been designed with the input of employers and other stakeholders to meet the needs of the industry. The course is made up of nine modules that are designed to link the theoretical knowledge of anatomy, materials, legislation, and appliance design to the practical skills required to produce fit for purpose dental appliances. The course is delivered on a part-time basis. Students will be timetabled for 1 day of study per week for a period of 3 years. On top of this, students will undertake two 30 credit 'Employment Development' modules during their time on the programme, each requiring at least 150 hours of work placement. These work placements are an essential part of the learning in the foundation degree. The teaching and learning on other modules will be linked to the skills and behaviours that will be learned and developed in the work placements. The timetabled sessions for this programme will be delivered in a blended way - some sessions will require in-person attendance at Yeovil College, and some will be delivered via live, synchronous, online delivery (e.g. via Microsoft Teams). Applicants should be aware that the split of face-to-face and online delivery is determined by the content of each module and its split of practical and theoretical skills. This means that students' timetables will dictate which weeks they need to be on-site and which weeks will be delivered online - students would not be able to choose their own attendance pattern. Over the entirety of the programme, approximately half of timetabled sessions will be delivered on-campus, and half will be via live online sessions.
