Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Management and Leadership
The Level 5 Management and Leadership Qualifications at Yeovil College are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (C.M.I.), an authoritative and respected organisation in the disciplines of Management and Leadership. The level 5 qualifications will enable learners to take their management and leadership skills to a higher level. These programmes are ideal for the development of Operational Managers, Divisional Managers, Departmental Managers, Regional Managers and Specialist Managers. The qualifications are aimed at benefiting aspiring or practising managers and leaders, who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner. This course is availale on a part-time basis and is taught in-person at our Yeovil campus. We offer three versions of the qualification - the Award, the Certificate and the Diploma. Students undertaking the Award will complete one unit* (minimum 4 credits), students undertaking the Certificate will complete three units* (minimum 13 credits), and students undertaking the Diploma will complete all 7 units (minimum 37 credits). (*NB - learners studying the Award or Certificate cannot select unit 608 as part of their qualification). Each unit runs over approximately six teaching weeks. The first two weeks of a unit will include taught sessions, and learners should expect to be in College for one day per week. The next four weeks will be focussed on independent learning, with learners using their time to complete assignments independently, although 1:1 tutorials will be available by request. For students undertaking the Award, this means that the course duration will be approximately six term-time weeks. Students undertaking the Certificate will undertake three consecutive units - each starting four weeks after the last. In practice, this will mean students will typically have two weeks of teaching, followed by two weeks of independent study, and then the next unit will commence, and therefore students undertaking the certificate will have a course duration of approximately 14 term-time weeks. Students studying the full diploma will undertake all 7 units over a one-year period, with each unit commencing four term-time weeks after the previous.
