Advanced Practitioner in Schools & Colleges - Level 4 Certificate (September 2025 Start)

Course Overview

This Level 4 qualification aims to provide professional development opportunities for practitioners working in the school and college workforce. This qualification will embrace the wealth of experience, proven knowledge and skills of the learner in a teaching and learning environment. It will challenge the learner in both daily practice and theoretical understanding.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

Learners must be at least 18 years old and employed in a suitable role within a school or college. Previous Level 3 study is a clear advantage but wealth of experience, knowledge and understanding working in schools or colleges is a requirement for this CPD qualification.

Qualification Gained

NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges.

After The Course

Learners may progress within the workforce in the following job roles and responsibilities:

  • Higher Level Practitioner/Teaching Assistant
  • Internal progression at a higher level, including those with management responsibilities
  • Leadership

What Will I Learn

Learners will acquire and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as they complete the qualification through work-based learning opportunities. As part of the programme you will cover 5 mandatory units that include:

  • Enabling individuals to learn
  • How to support children and young people to improve their mental health and well-being.
  • Working with others to support individuals with additional needs and disability in a school or college.
  • Working with families and other professionals in a school or college setting.
  • Implementing change in school or college setting.

Upon achievement of this qualification, the learner will be equipped as an Advanced Practitioner. The Advanced Practitioner will use crucial leadership skills to mentor others across all roles and responsibilities in the school or college workforce.

English And Maths

Must hold GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above or equivalent.

Our Lecturers

You will be assessed and taught by our lecturers who have over 20 years’ experience within the Education and Early Years sector. Our lecturers have a strong understanding, experience and knowledge of working within schools or colleges.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include:

  • Direct observation within the workplace
  • Written assignments and professional discussion

Tutorials

During your monthly blended learning sessions you will have the support of a full tutorial programme to ensure you are supported and have a clear understanding of your progress.

Course Expenses

Entry Requirements

This is a work-based qualification. Learners must be over 18 years of age and employed in a school or college setting. They must already hold a Level 3 in a related topic to complete this qualification. Maths and English at grade 4 or above or equivalent qualification.
