National Careers Week reaches a new height at Yeovil College with RNAS Yeovilton’s Helicopter landing!

As part of Yeovil College’s programme of recognition and celebration for National Careers Week 2024, Yeovilton has landed their Wildcat AW159 military helicopter in the heart of the Yeovil College campus, officially marking the impact that education and training has on the South West

Spotlighting careers and the role they play upon a young person’s life chances and future employment opportunities, we welcomed the opportunity to again support the home of the British Helicopter and fly the flag for our community.

During the visit, RNAS Yeovilton delivered a package of enrichment activities to the Yeovil College and Yeovil College University Centre student community, highlighting careers and opportunities within the local area, and in particular supporting their own workforce development requirement, across a huge range of careers including Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Design, Finance, HR Careers and Customer Support.

Alex Clancy, Director of Employer Engagement, said: On behalf of myself, Mark and the rest of the Yeovil College team I wanted to thank you and the RNAS Yeovilton team for special memories created today.

“Yeovil College is committed to our mission of creating life-changing opportunities for those in our community. The significant and lifelong careers in Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing and Armed Forces are the backbone of South Somerset and with your support today, during National Careers Week 2024, you have demonstrated to the next generation the fantastic progression routes locally available. Yeovil truly is the home of British Helicopters.

“I would like to acknowledge the exemplary approach demonstrated by all involved from RNAS Yeovilton. Every single member of your team was exceptional before and during the day and simply put they are a credit to the Royal Navy and RNAS Yeovilton.”

Yeovil is incredibly fortunate to host some of the best employers in the UK, right here in the heart of the South Somerset, North and West Dorset region.
