Annal Research Festival launching at iAreo for the first time

On Thursday 13th June, Yeovil College University Centre is hosting its annual Research Festiva at iAero. This is a celebration of the ground-breaking research projects and dissertations delivered by students and lecturers across a range of thought-provoking areas, including engineering, business and early years.

There will be the opportunity for attendees to engage with the presenters and ask any questions through a live chat function. The aim of the Research Festival is to offer an insight into the ground-breaking research taking place right here in Yeovil, and to inspire others to get involved in university-level study.

For the first time this year, students will also be presenting work through academic poster displays and will be available to discuss their research projects with employers and future students. We will also be showcasing high-quality student work from our FdA Digital Design & Media, Level 4.

Sian Deasy, Higher Education Manager at Yeovil College University Centre: “The Research Festival provides an exciting platform to bring our different subject areas together, with the common goal of learning and inspiring. The projects you will hear about have the potential to make a tangible impact across a whole range of sectors, and we could not be prouder of what our students have achieved.”

Student speaker line-up:

Rebecca Bond: an Aerospace Engineer Degree Apprentice with BAE Systems, delivering an insightful presentation on her research project: Creating a Sustainable Food Source in a Submarine Environment.

Ben Taylor, BA (Hons) Business and Management student: Alongside his studies, Ben is also a Business Studies Assessor and Deliverer at Yeovil College and will be presenting his research on: The Evaluation of the Efficacy of Apprenticeships in Supporting Student Success within Contemporary Business.
