Course Overview
This course is for those wishing to further develop their hairdressing skills to an advanced level. The course consists of a range of units relevant to the modern hairdresser. You will develop skills in advanced hairdressing consultation, creative hair cutting, creative styling and dressing hair, advanced hair colouring, advanced hair colour correction, promotion of products and services as well as additional training in employability.
Work Experience & Industry Placements
Work placement in a salon is encouraged whilst you are undergoing this course to develop your hairdressing skills further. This can assist your progression but is not mandatory for part time.
Qualification Gained
Level 3 Diploma NVQ in Advanced Women's Hairdressing Studies.
After The Course
This course will provide you with a great starting point for your career in the hair industry. You will have all you need for a role as a Professional Junior Hair Stylist, though you may also decide to extend your skills with our Barbering Courses. You would be welcome to discuss your options with your tutor, or our dedicated careers advisors.
What Will I Learn
You will learn how a variety of hairdressing skills relating to hairdressing services. Units include: creative hair cutting, advanced hair colouring, styling and dressing hair as well as learning additional skills such as creative hair colouring and advanced hair colour correction.

Teaching Learning and Assessment
Teaching and learning is designed to support all students to achieve. There are a mixture of practical and theory-based sessions, with your practical learning taking place in our well-equipped professional salon.
As an adult learner at Yeovil College you will be able to access a range of support and services, including our dedicated Learning Resource Centre, a wealth of resources from our team of expert careers advisors, and a range of wellbeing support.
Course Expenses
The cost of the course is from £3345 You will also need to purchase additional kit and uniform from £200 and have the opportunity to attend educational visits, such as salon international in October and other training for additional costs.

Additional costs may be covered by our financial assistance bursary which you can apply for once you have had your place confirmed and at that point, you will be provided with the bursary application form.
How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed through practical observation, online exams and through online/written assignments. You will complete assignments and multiple choice exams throughout the duration of this course. You will need to complete the assignments and pass the multiple choice tests in order to achieve the qualification.
Entry Requirements
This course is open to anyone with an interest in Hairdressing and who already hold a qualification in Hairdressing at Level 2 Certificate or NVQ Diploma at Level 2.
This course requires a good level of written English, so we ask for applicants to hold either a GCSE in English at grade C / 4, or an equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2). Required Experience
This course is designed for those who already hold a Level 2 Hairdressing qualification and experience in the hair industry.
