Course Overview

The Level 1 First Step IT Preparation Programme is a steppingstone for learners who are progressing from an Entry Level 3 qualification or those who have attempted the GCSE but achieved very low grades. It is designed to use specialistic socio-emotional learning framework to activate a passion for IT and help learners develop the preparatory knowledge, skills and behaviour to successfully approach a stringent vocational qualification at level 2. The programme further provides the opportunity for learners to attempt to achieve either functional skills or GCSE in English and Maths alongside the L1 curriculum. The programme runs from September to January and paves the way to progress into the Level 1 Next Steps IT Preparation course – which runs from February to June.

Qualification Gained

Successful completion of this Level 1 First Step and Next Step IT Preparation Programmes lead to the award of a Yeovil College Level 1 Certificate which allows learners to progress into a Level 2 course within the college. Learners will also achieve badges in Cisco Introduction to Cyber Security.
