Yeovil College leadership takes first steps onto future campus as Big Build reaches key milestone

The Yeovil College Leadership Team has taken its first steps onto the future of the College, joining BAM’s on‑site management team within the Big Build compound to mark a significant milestone in the campus transformation. 

During the visit, senior leaders walked out onto part of the newly poured ground floor concrete slab that will form the base of the brand‑new Wessex Building – the first physical step onto what will become the final building in the College’s £60+ million Big Build programme. 

Standing on the foundations of the new building brought the scale and reality of the project sharply into focus, marking a powerful moment as the transformation moves from construction to completion and student access. 

The Wessex Building will complete Yeovil College’s once‑in‑a‑generation campus redevelopment, delivering modern, future‑focused learning environments designed around students, skills and progression. With two major new buildings already open and in use, this milestone represents a clear step forward towards full campus completion, with students accessing the final building from September 2027.

The visit also highlighted the strong partnership between Yeovil College and BAM, with construction progressing steadily as the final phase of the Big Build gathers momentum. 

As the Wessex Building rises from its foundations, the College’s vision for a fully transformed, modern campus continues to become a reality, creating an environment designed to inspire, equip and support the next generation of learners.
