Yeovil College and Yeovil Town Football Club have announced the relaunch of their partnership, marking a powerful new chapter for football development in the region under the Club’s new ownership.
The renewed collaboration brings together two cornerstone organisations in Yeovil, united by a shared ambition to deliver an exceptional pathway for young people looking to combine elite football with high-quality education. The partnership signals a return to a joined-up approach to sporting success in the town, with both organisations aligned in their vision to support and develop the next generation of footballing talent.
There will be a launch event on Wednesday 8th July 2026, 6pm to 8pm, at Huish Park.
At the heart of the partnership is the newly launched Football Performance & Development Pathway, open to current Year 11 students. The programme is designed to provide aspiring footballers with a structured route to develop both on the pitch and in the classroom.
Students enrolled on the pathway will study a Level 3 BTEC in Sport Coaching & Development, based at Yeovil College, alongside an intensive football training and fixtures programme delivered in collaboration with Yeovil Town FC coaching staff and Yeovil College specialists, based largely at Huish Park. The course is designed to open progression routes into footballing careers, university-level education, apprenticeships, and careers within the sports industry.
As part of the programme, students will have the opportunity to be selected to represent Yeovil Town FC in competitive fixtures, including the National League Alliance U19s and the FA Youth Cup, subject to selection and league approval. This provides a valuable platform for players to experience high-level competition within a professional club environment.
Current Year 11s – this is the only pathway available
This is the only pathway that provides access to represent Yeovil Town FC U19s, with previous routes no longer available to current Year 11 students. Applicants who have applied elsewhere will not be eligible for the programme. To access this opportunity, students must apply directly to Yeovil College; failure to do so will mean they are unable to play for Yeovil Town FC U19s.
Stronger Together
The partnership combines the expertise, facilities and resources of both organisations to deliver what is positioned as one of the strongest football and education offers in the region. The programme will be supported by Yeovil College’s experienced sport team, including Roy O’Brien and Lewis Winter, working closely with YTFC coaches to ensure a holistic approach to player development.
Speaking about the partnership, Mark Bolton, Principal and CEO of Yeovil College, said:
“This is a hugely exciting moment for Yeovil. By bringing together outstanding education and a professional football environment, we are creating a genuinely aspirational pathway for young people in our community.
“This partnership reflects our shared ambition to deliver excellence, raise aspirations, and provide clear progression routes into both higher education and the sports industry – made possible, only by the change in management at YTFC.
“Together with Yeovil Town FC, we are building something that is not only ambitious but truly transformative for the next generation.”
This initiative not only strengthens opportunities for individual students but also reinforces a commitment to retaining and developing local talent within Yeovil. By aligning outstanding education with a professional football pathway, the partnership creates clear and accessible routes into both sport and employment.
Entry onto the Level 3 programme requires a grade 4 in English and Maths, alongside three additional subjects. For students who do not meet these requirements, alternative pathways are available through a Level 2 Sport programme, ensuring inclusivity while maintaining high standards of development and progression.
Prospective students are encouraged to apply via the Yeovil College website, with Yeovil Town FC also signposting directly to the application page as part of a coordinated recruitment approach. No previous applications will be transferred, students need to make new applications.
