A Yeovil College learner is celebrating an exceptional year of success after gaining recognition in the local press for her achievements in the prestigious South West Skills Competition.
Kelsie, a Level 1 Brickwork student, has demonstrated outstanding commitment to her studies, achieving excellent results across her academic work while proudly representing Team Yeovil College in the regional competition. Her dedication and talent have marked her out as one to watch within the construction sector.
In addition to her success in brickwork, Kelsie has actively embraced wider college life, stepping beyond her curriculum area to support peers, including taking part as a model in the college’s Hair, Beauty and Media Make-up show. Her willingness to get involved highlights her confidence, adaptability and positive approach to learning.
Kelsie has also played a key role in challenging and redefining traditional stereotypes often associated with construction learners. Through her work ethic, professionalism and wider contribution to student life, she has had a positive influence on her peers, helping to foster a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Her achievements reflect the breadth of opportunity available at Yeovil College and demonstrate the impact of a well-rounded college experience that supports both academic success and personal development.
Tim Dabennet, Construction Study Programme Manager at Yeovil College, said:
“Kelsie is an excellent example of what can be achieved through dedication, enthusiasm and a willingness to embrace every opportunity. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to seeing what she achieves next year.”
