Yeovil College Launches Charity Week to Support Local Causes and Inspire Student Volunteering

With the theme of ‘Just £2 or 2 minutes can make all the difference’, the College has organised a wide range of activities designed to raise money for good causes, including Breast Cancer Now, whilst also shining a spotlight on the power of volunteering.

Throughout the week, the campus will host a variety of fundraising events such as hair braiding, guess the sweets in the jar, fitness challenges, a bake sale, pie‑the‑teacher and more. Most activities request a £2 donation, payable via QR code, including Apple Pay. No booking is required, and everyone is encouraged to get involved.

In addition to fundraising, Yeovil College will welcome a number of local charities onto campus for a series of mini volunteering fairs, an initiative led by Student Union Vice President, Ruby Holliday. These charities include: Samaritans, School in a Bag, Spark Somerset, Lufton Youth Group, Lord’s Larder, Yeovil Parks and Green Spaces, Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Yeovil Hospital, St Margaret’s Hospice Care, Yeovil Railway Centre, Somerset Foundation Trust Charity, British Red Cross, and St John’s Ambulance (Dorset).

These events aim to showcase the breadth of volunteering opportunities available locally and highlight the positive impact volunteering can have on both communities and individuals.

Yeovil College’s Charity Week reflects the institution’s commitment to community engagement, social responsibility and empowering students to make a difference.
