Yeovil College University Centre Celebrates Record Breaking Graduation Ceremony 2025
Over 110 graduates crossed the stage at Yeovil College University Centre’s largest-ever graduation ceremony, marking a milestone moment for South Somerset education and workforce.
The ceremony, which was held on Wednesday 5th November at Westlands Entertainment Venue, recognised a record-breaking number of graduates for the University Centre. Employers, partners, friends and family attended the celebration to witness the awards and qualifications, including Bachelors and Foundation Degrees, Diplomas and Degree Apprenticeships.
Several students were recognised for their outstanding achievements and excellence in their subject with special awards, judged by an independent panel. The award winners are:
- Award for Business Excellence: Jacob Stonier
- Award for Engineering Excellence: Bradley Hale
- Education Outstanding Achievement Award: Katy Gordon
- Creative Industries Outstanding Achievement Award: Abida Khan
- Outstanding Childcare Professional Award: Brooke Stephens
- Excellence within Beauty and Aesthetics Award: Sarah Hitch
- Excellence within Counselling Award: Stuart Handy.
Mark Bolton, Principal & CEO of Yeovil College, said: “Change is here, and this graduating class reflects it. Over half are higher and degree apprentices or sponsored by their employers. More graduates, more opportunity, right here in our region.
“By working together, we can unlock prosperity for our towns. Yeovil College has grown by over 100% in six years, with £90 million invested between 2021 and 2027.
“Change is inevitable. Let’s embrace it, keep learning, apply technology, and make a difference.”
During the ceremony, honorary fellowships were awarded to Dr Julie Young, Director of the 14-19 Partnership, and Mark Porter, Former Managing Director at Jones Building Group. This prestigious recognition has been bestowed only a handful of times by Yeovil College University Centre and is reserved to recognise those whose contributions have helped their community.
Brooke Stephens, a BA (Hons) Childhood Studies, Care and Education Graduate, spoke at the ceremony on behalf of their fellow graduates. She said: “This is not marking the end of a chapter but the start of a new one. Some of you may be taking a further leap into education, some of you may be looking for a new career and others may just be taking some time out for a very well-deserved rest. Wherever your new path is taking you please enjoy it and embrace every moment.”
The Ceremony concluded with a celebratory gathering, providing an opportunity for graduates to reconnect with their peers, family, and friends, and to reflect on their academic journey.
