Former Premier League Footballer Strengthens Performance Football at Yeovil College!
We are delighted to introduce Roy O’Brien to the position of Head of Performance Football at Yeovil’s Institute of Sport at Yeovil College.
Roy brings over 14 years of professional playing experience, having represented prestigious clubs such as Arsenal FC, Wigan Athletic FC, AFC Bournemouth, and Yeovil Town FC. During his career, Roy has achieved numerous accolades, including winning the National League Conference and the FA Trophy, which marked the beginning of Yeovil Town’s ‘glory years’ and their rapid ascent through the Football League.
As a Player/Assistant Manager, Roy helped Weymouth FC to victory in the National League Conference South in 2006 before managing Dorchester Town FC. Following his professional playing career, Roy served as Development Officer and Joint Manager of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust for five successful years, gaining extensive knowledge of grassroots football in the local area.
Roy began his professional career at Arsenal FC in 1991, where he was coached by Pat Rice alongside many international players before moving onto AFC Bournemouth. He is eager to leverage his experiences to support aspiring footballers at Yeovil College, focusing on creating a player-centred environment to enhance development and performance.
Roy’s extensive experience in professional football equips him with the knowledge and skills to develop an outstanding football programme. His unparalleled expertise in successful top-level football environments makes him a valuable addition to our team.
