Yeovil College is set to welcome the region’s top emerging talent in bricklaying on Monday 18 May, as it hosts the South West College Brickwork Competition. The event will bring together 21 competitors from 11 colleges across the region, making it the largest competition of its kind to date. With participants travelling from as far as the Isle of Wight, Cornwall and Swindon, the College is preparing for a busy and exciting day of high‑level skills demonstration.
The annual competition celebrates full-time bricklaying learners, offering a valuable platform for students who may not typically have access to regional or national competitive opportunities. Yeovil College achieved outstanding success in last year’s event, securing first place in both the junior and senior categories, and is hopeful for another strong performance this year.
Competitions such as this play an important role in raising aspirations and building confidence, supporting learners as they progress towards careers and apprenticeships in the construction industry. Yeovil College is proud to host an event that showcases both the quality of training across the South West and the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
