Yeovil College Reflects on an Inspiring National Careers Week 2026

Yeovil College has concluded a highly successful National Careers Week 2026, marking a week of focused activity designed to support learners in planning their next steps and engaging meaningfully with their future careers.

Careers and progression sit firmly at the centre of Yeovil College’s mission to create life‑changing opportunities, and this year’s National Careers Week provided an important platform to celebrate and strengthen that commitment. Across the week, learners and apprentices from every curriculum area took part in a rich programme of events, including targeted workshops, employer‑led sessions, one‑to‑one careers guidance appointments and curriculum‑specific activities tailored to their future pathways.

Throughout the week, the College’s well‑established and structured careers programme continued to guide activity. Supported by Governors and the Senior Leadership Team, and led by the Head of Careers, Work Placements and Employability, the programme ensured that every activity was aligned, purposeful and connected to the College’s wider development ambitions. The careers service worked closely with teaching teams to deliver advice and guidance that was both responsive and relevant to learner needs.

Special Visit From Adam Dance Marks the Week’s Finale

To bring the week to a meaningful close, the College welcomed Adam Dance to campus. His visit provided the opportunity to showcase the exceptional work taking place across the college community, including the Foundation Learning department, the brand‑new Construction Innovation Centre, the newly opened Institute of Sport, and the Engineering Advanced Manufacturing and Defence facilities.

Adam’s engagement offered valuable insight into how Yeovil College supports students in building future‑ready skills, reinforcing the importance of strong partnerships between education, industry, and local leadership.

Commitment to Transparency and Continuous Improvement

As part of the celebrations, Yeovil College reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to transparency and accessibility by clearly communicating its careers programme to learners, parents, carers, staff and employers. Although National Careers Week serves as a valuable annual milestone, the College emphasised that high‑quality careers education remains a year‑round priority, supporting learners continuously as they prepare for further study, training or employment.

Feedback played a central role in the week’s success. The College gathered insights from learners, families, staff and industry partners to evaluate activities and identify opportunities to enhance the programme even further. This reflective approach ensures that the College continues to evolve its offer and provide a careers service that enables every learner to progress confidently into their next steps.
