Yeovil College Launches New Level 4 Certificate in Laser & Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments

Yeovil College is expanding its higherlevel professional training offer with the launch of a new Level 4 Certificate in Laser & Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments, designed to support experienced beauty therapists looking to progress into advanced aesthetics.

Starting in September 2026, the programme will equip learners with the specialist skills and clinical confidence required to work safely and effectively in laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation, two of the fastestgrowing areas within the aesthetics industry.

Delivered at the College’s main campus and studied one day per week over 12 weeks, the course builds on existing Level 3 beauty therapy qualifications and substantial salon experience. Learners will be assessed in a real or realistic working environment, ensuring they graduate ready for employment in clinics and salons offering advanced skin treatments.

The qualification awarded is the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments, regulated and nationally recognised within the sector.

During the course, students will develop expertise across key specialist units, including professional consultation, health, safety and security in the salon, laser and light treatments for hair removal, and laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation. Alongside technical skills, the programme also supports the development of important transferable skills such as communication, research and time management.

The course will be taught by experienced lecturers with strong industry expertise, combining taught sessions, practical demonstrations and guided independent study. Assessment will be through a combination of practical assessments and written assignments, with ongoing feedback and support throughout.

The new programme responds directly to employer demand for highly skilled practitioners within the aesthetics sector and strengthens Yeovil College’s growing portfolio of advanced professional and higherlevel provision.

Applications are now open to candidates aged 18+ who hold a Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy, GCSE English at grade 4/C (or equivalent), and at least two years of current salon experience.
