Yeovil College Hosts Two Exciting Early Years Workshops in Collaboration with Take Art

Yeovil College is thrilled to announce two upcoming workshops designed for early years settings and students, in partnership with Take Art. These events aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of early years practitioners through interactive and practical sessions. Spaces are limited and must be reserved. 

Event 1: Nurturing Your Early Years Music Provision 

Date: Thursday 27th March 2025
Time: 6.15pm for a 6.30pm-8.30 pm
Location: Yeovil College
Presenter: Jane Parker from Take Art
Maximum Participants: 35
Cost: Free 

Join Jane Parker for a hands-on workshop that will help you enrich your early years musical environment. This session will cover: 

  • Exploring repertoire – songs and rhymes. 
  • Noticing the ‘invisible’ musical environment – tuning into children’s spontaneous musical behaviour. 
  • Playing instruments and using props – being the child’s interested musical play partner. 
  • Enhancing your setting’s auditory environment with meaningful music for children, families, and staff. 

Jane Parker, an experienced educator and researcher in early years music, will guide participants through various tools and techniques, supported by video examples, pedagogical explanations, and practical activities.

Event 2: Infinite Adventures – Movement Play for Early Years 

Date: Thursday 1st May 2025
Time: 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start-8.30pm
Location: Yeovil College
Presenter: Hannah Lefeuvre from Take Art
Maximum Participants: 35
Cost: Free 

Experience the joy of movement in this engaging workshop led by Hannah Lefeuvre. This session will focus on: 

  • Using music, movement, sensory experiences, imagination, and play. 
  • Aligning with Early Years Foundation Stage principles. 
  • Increasing opportunities for Playing and Exploring, Active Learning, Creating and Thinking Critically, and Physical Development. 

Hannah will share her approach, developed over nearly 30 years, which responds to children’s interests, including those perceived as disruptive. The workshop will highlight the infinite possibilities for movement play with babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and families. 

What to Bring:  

  • A bottle of water 
  • A yoga mat (optional) 
  • Loose, comfortable, layered clothing 
  • Support shoes (if needed)
