Graphic Design & Photography - Level 3 (September 2024 Start)

On this study programme you will work explore a range of materials, techniques and processes related to digital design, graphic design, 3D design and photography. You will have the opportunity to work on real design briefs and enter design competitions exploring Branding, Advertising, Printmaking, Illustration, Packaging, Architecture, Web Design, App Design, Visual Communication, Product Design, Typographic and Layout Design.

You will have the opportunity to take part in work experience or work related activity through working on real art and design briefs for local employers, charities and community groups. In the second year you will also have the opportunity to take part in

This is a 2 year programme and you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Art and Design

After successful completion of this study programme you can progress onto a Higher Education programme at University. You can progress onto our Foundation Degrees in either Graphic Design or Photography.

You will gain a broad and in depth understanding to enable you to successfully progress onto University and your own career path. A typical week will include a mixture of fun practical and theory lessons focusing on a range of subject content related to art and design with support from your lecturer and working alongside others on your course. This will include workshops covering the use of various materials, processes and techniques used by designers and photographers in photography, image making, ideas, design history, influences, digital design, web and app design, printmaking, 2D design such graphics and 3D design such as product design and architecture. You will then apply this learning to set assignments and take your ideas and creativity in your own direction. Including working on real design briefs and competitions.

English and maths is embedded into the programme

Your lecturers are specialists in developing your skills to progress to your next level - most continue to work in the Creative Industries themselves!

Through classroom based activities and practical Art and Design workshops and experiences supplemented by trips and guest speakers from industry leaders

4 GCSE's grade 4 or above including English and maths or equivalent
