Course Overview

The level 2 Diploma provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to begin a career with the Uniformed and Non-uniformed Services, for example Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Prison Service or Military Service. This introductory study programme provides you with the perfect starting point for a career in this exciting sector. Topics include Following Uniformed Service Routine, Teamwork and Problem solving skills and Physical fitness for the Unformed Service. You will also get the opportunity to complete the National Citizenship Service within your programme.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

Work experience has been conducted with the British Army, Hospital, Primary Schools and Sports Events. Within your study programme you will also conduct volunteering projects to include Ham Hill Country Park and Yeovil Half Marathon.

Qualification Gained

NCFE Level 2 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.

After The Course

Successful completion of the Level 2 Uniformed Public Services course will enable progression onto the Level 3 Uniform Public Services at Yeovil College. Alternatively, you can begin a career within the Uniform Public Services.

What Will I Learn

Units to include; Follow Uniformed Service Routine, Health and Hygiene in the Uniform Services, Develop teamwork and problem solving skills, Investigate Employment in the Uniformed Public Services, Health and Safety in the Uniformed Services, Exploring Equality and Diversity for the Uniformed Services, Explore Volunteering and Volunteering opportunities.

English And Maths

Students will continue to study English and Maths in the units that they will study. This will assist future progression and development.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Lesson will consist of a mix of theory and practical. Where possible putting practical demonstration and application to theory content.

Tutorials

Tutorials will include a range of personal development sessions including CV writing and employability skills such as completing application forms.

How Will I Be Assessed

There will be a variety of assessment methods including practical demonstrations, written reports and presentations.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language and Maths.

Required Experience

No prior experience required however a strong desire to enter the Protective Services is desirable due to the practical nature of the programme.
