Intermediate Hairdressing (September 2024 Start)

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting and colouring hair and how to provide an effective consultation service for clients. Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the hairdressing industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.

60 Hours of work experience is required alongside this qualification in a hair salon. This must be confirmed by October half term.

Level 2 Diploma in Women's hairdressing.

Progression on to Level 3 Diploma in Women's hairdressing or Level 2 Hair professional Apprenticeship.

You learn the following knowledge, skills and behaviours:

• Follow health and safety practice in the salon
• Working in the hair industry
• Client consultation for hair services
• Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
• Colour and lighten hair
• Cut hair using hairdressing techniques
• The art of dressing hair
• Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
• Salon reception duties

Maths and English grades 4 and above is required for this qualification. If you receive a grade 3 for either English OR Maths we will consider your application.

You will be taught by one of our industry professionals.

You will be assessed through practical observation, online and written exams and through online work packs. You will be required to source your own clients to bring in for assessments during the day to support you.
