YIS Athletes Shine at AoC Sport Fitness Games Finals

YIS students delivered an outstanding performance at the AoC Sport Fitness Games Finals, proudly representing the South West as the only college from the region to secure a place in this year’s national finals.

The competition brought together some of the strongest college athletes from across the country, and YIS competitors rose to the challenge with determination, skill, and impressive teamwork.

In the paired categories, Sophie Harpur and Imy Nathan, competing as Muscle & Mayhem, secured an exceptional 2nd place overall, finishing just one point behind first place. Their consistency and grit across every workout set the tone for an extraordinary day.

The pairings of Sophie Evans and Luisa Buse also delivered a highly commendable performance, achieving 7th place overall against a strong national field.

Meanwhile, Aron Lenkiewicz and Leo Andrews, competing as Twin Spartans, finished in 5th place overall, tying on points for 4th. The duo entered the final workout in 2nd place and missed out on the top spot by a margin of just 11 seconds, underscoring the intensity and competitiveness of the event.

Staff and supporters praised the students for their professionalism, sportsmanship, and resilience throughout the competition.

Warren Aplin, Curriculum Area Manager for Sport & UPS, said:

“Every one of our athletes gave their absolute all today. They represented Yeovil College and the YIS brand with pride, pushed through the toughest moments, and demonstrated the strength of our Sport and UPS programmes. We couldn’t be more proud of what they have achieved.”

YIS continues to reinforce its reputation for excellence in sport, with this latest performance highlighting the dedication and talent within its student community.
