Yeovil College Opens Its Doors For The First Open Event Of The Academic Year

Yeovil College is hosting their first open evening of the year to give future learners the opportunity to meet lecturers, try taster sessions, explore UK-leading facilities and take a look at their brand-new contemporary teaching spaces.

The open evening will take place on Thursday 16th October from 5-7:30pm, and is projected to be the biggest open event of the year. The event is particularly significant to Year 11 students looking to explore their post-16 options, and for adult learners wanting to study degree-level or professional courses.

Future students can discover the college’s course pathways that include A Levels, T Levels, Apprenticeships, University-Level courses and Vocational Qualifications. This event will encourage young people in South Somerset to decide on their pathway and work hard on achieving the GCSE grades that they need.

The highlights of Yeovil College’s Open Event include:

  • Tours of UK-leading facilities in Creative Industries, Health & Education, Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Hospitality, Construction, Sport, IT, Hair & Beauty, Business and A Levels.
  • VR technology demonstrations
  • Talks from Principal and CEO, Mark Bolton and his team
  • Meeting the college lecturers.

The college, based on Mudford Road, Yeovil, will also be giving its visitors the chance to explore their state-of-the-art Sports Centre (opening this year), and take a look at the developments in other parts of the campus. There are expansions happening all over the college for future students and have secured £60+ million for the project – this includes an innovative Hydrogen Hub for Engineering learners, a Construction Centre and plans for a new teaching block.

Mark Bolton, Principal and CEO, said: This open event marks our first opportunity to showcase the exceptional new facilities supporting our Sport and Protective Services curriculum. We’re thrilled to share the college’s bold and inspiring vision—not just for these departments, but across our entire campus.

“Students attending this event will be the first to glimpse the future of our college, set to open fully in 2027. They’ll be part of a pioneering cohort that benefits from cutting-edge teaching environments, state-of-the-art technology, and some of the finest learning resources in the South West.

“There’s a lot to be excited about—and it all starts here.
