The Apprenticeship and Careers Fair brings together a variety of employers from a wide range of local industries and sectors, who are looking to attract, train and recruit the next generation of their workforce.

Employers present are from a huge number of local and regional employers including; Leonardo Helicopters, Thales, Milsted Langdon, FGP Group, Powrmatic Ltd, BAE Systems, The Newt in Somerset, Numatic, Old Mill, Jones Building Group, Honeywell Aerospace, Wessex Group (Electricals/Fire & Security), Abri, EDF Energy, ABP Food Group UK, The British Army, plus many more. Around 40 employers will be showcasing their current Apprenticeship vacancies, job opportunities, the benefits of their company and the support that is offered to them at Yeovil College.

Over the last few years, Yeovil College has seen massive growth within its Apprenticeship programme and now offers Apprenticeships in many sectors including Engineering, Health, Early Years and Social Care, Construction, Automotive Engineering, Sport, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality, Business, Digital and IT. The event will demonstrate this range of course options, career opportunities and Apprenticeship vacancies available through Yeovil College and their employer partners.

Alex Clancy, Director of Employer Engagement, commented: “Personally, I think I’ve got the best job here at Yeovil College, and that’s because I work with fantastic employers and brilliant students to discover their perfect career paths. That all starts with finding an apprenticeship at the right place, at the right time, and at the right level for them. Over 95% of our apprentices continue in their employment once their apprenticeship has finished, or even progress to more positive destinations. Here at Yeovil College, we are proud to work with some of the key employers in the region to support almost 1,000 apprentices across 60 different curriculum areas.”

Apprenticeships are available to everyone over the age of sixteen, and there is no upper age limit. They provide a positive route to employment, alongside gaining an education, where around 20% of time (i.e. six working hours) is spent in learning and education, whilst 80% is dedicated to learning and working on-the-job.
