Digital Media Level 1 Introductory Diploma (September2026 Start)

The course is designed to provide students who are intrigued and motivated by creative media with opportunities to explore, develop and test their creativity. The qualification draws upon established approaches to teaching, learning and assessment that are successfully proven to appeal to and engage students seeking practical study over a more academic study route. You will get to explore and experiment creatively in many different areas including Film making, script writing and video editing.

You will have the opportunity to take part in work experience or work-related activity through working on real art and design briefs for local employers, charities and community groups.

Pearson BTEC L1 Intro Diploma in Digital Media.

After successful completion of this study programme you can progress onto the Level 2 Creative Media.

You will gain a broad understanding to enable you to successfully progress onto the Level 2 programme. A typical week will include a mixture of fun practical and theory lessons focusing on a range of subject content related to creative media with support from your lecturer and working alongside others on your course. This will include workshops covering the use of various materials, processes and techniques used by content creators and film makers. You will then apply this learning to set assignments and take your ideas and creativity in your own direction.

You will need to complete English & Maths whilst completing the qualification if you have not already achieved this at level 2.

Your lecturers are specialists in developing your skills to progress to your next level - most continue to work in the Creative Industries themselves!

Through classroom-based activities and practical Creative Media workshops and experiences supplemented by trips and employer-based projects from industry leaders.

Tutors will be available throughout your course at Yeovil College.
