Cyber Security Skills Bootcamp
Course Overview
Our Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Security is an intensive, hands-on online programme designed to introduce learners to one of the most in-demand and fast-growing sectors in the UK. Over 10 weeks, participants will gain practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills that are highly valued by employers, while developing the confidence to take the next step in their digital career journey.
This course is designed for people aged 19 years or older, whether you're looking to start a new career in cyber security, return to the workforce, or upskill in your current role. No prior experience in cyber security is necessary—just a genuine interest in technology and a willingness to learn in a supportive, online learning environment.
After The Course
Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Cyber Security Bootcamp, you will be equipped with a solid foundation in key areas such as threat analysis, network security, ethical hacking, and incident response. You will have confidence in applying industry-standard tools and techniques to real-world scenarios, and will have developed the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for entry-level roles in cyber security. Whether progressing into further study, certification pathways, or employment, you will leave the course with a clear understanding of the cyber security landscape and the practical capabilities to contribute to a secure digital environment.

What Will I Learn
Within the Skills Bootcamp you will complete 10 modules including:
Module 1 – Introduction to Cyber Security
Module 2 – Cyber Security Threats and Vulnerabilities
Module 3 – Securing Networks
Module 4 – Network Security and Infrastructure
Module 5 – Cisco Packet Tracer Tasks
Module 6 – Creating and Using Virtual Machines
Module 7 – Cyber Security Principles and Best Practice
Module 8 – System and Network Defence
Module 9 – Access Control and Firewalls
Module 10 – Case Studies and Tabletop Exercises
Our Lecturers
Teaching Learning and Assessment
Online theory & practical sessions and practical 1:1 consultation / implementation support sessions have been included to ensure knowledge is fully implemented during and following the programme. With this approach, support, learning activities and implementation / consultation support learners will be able to evidence their new found knowledge, demonstrate what they have learnt and put it into practice and reflect on their own and others learning.
As an adult learner at Yeovil College you will be able to access a range of support and services, including our dedicated Learning Resource Centre, a wealth of resources from our team of expert careers advisors, and a range of wellbeing support.
Course Expenses
Employer Referred
• As a small employer you will be required to pay a co-investment of 10% of the cost.
• As a large employer you will be required to pay a co-investment of 30% of the cost.
• Employees will need time away from work to attend weekly classes & coaching sessions.
Self-employed
• Fully Funded*

Entry Requirements
Participants must:
• Be aged 19+.
• Employed or Self-Employed.
• Must live or work in Somerset or Dorset.
• Agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information.
• Only study one Skills Bootcamp within one financial year.
• Commit to attending 2 evenings of study each week.
This course also requires a good level of written English, so we ask for applicants to hold either a GCSE in English at grade C / 4, or an equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2).
