Lean Manufacturing Operative - Level 2 Apprenticeship (Starting between August 2025 and July 2026)
Course Overview
Learners must be employed in the industry of production, including manufacturing, checking and assembling products. There are 4 job roles that can be followed within this Apprenticeship:
- Option 1: Lean Manufacturing Operatives working within a Production/Assembly role will be able to meet the requirements of two different production/assembly processes or assignments.
- Option 2: Manufacturing Operatives working within an Inspection/Quality assurance role.
- Option 3: Manufacturing Operatives working within a Logistics/Material handling role.
- Option 4: Manufacturing Operatives working within a Production processing/finishing role.
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge & Skills).
This qualification is completed in the workplace and learners are required to demonstrate all evidence requirements, learning outcomes and assessment criteria through the production of an evidence based portfolio via; assessor observations, job write ups and professional discussions. Evidence will be naturally occurring examples across a range of units selected to allow the learner to demonstrate their competency in completing their regular work based activities.
Near the end of the Apprenticeship, the Learner will have to pass the End Point Assessment. An external body will assess the learner on a Knowledge test, Practical skills test and a question based discussion around the portfolio of evidence. This will result in a Fail, Pass or Distinction."

English And Maths
Functional Skills>/p>
The apprentice will be required to successfully achieve qualifications at level 1 in English and Mathematics and also to have taken examinations at level 2, for both subjects, within the period of the apprenticeship, where evidence of prior achieved qualification is not held. Apprentices, who were 19 or over when they start their apprenticeship, do not require to study English and maths to progress through Gateway and onto their EPA.

Course Expenses
Duration: Typically 13-15 months
Delivery method: Blended learning between remote / Workplace Assessor visits/ one day onsite every 4-6 weeks
Entry requirements: Employed within a job role which covers all areas of the qualification. Four GCSEs 3-9 including Mathematics & English.
Funding: Typical cost is £6,000 for a Levy-paying employer, fully funded for a 16-18 yr old at a small employer or 5% for any other circumstance.<>/p>
