Leadership and Management Bootcamp - Mixed Cohort Somerset and Dorset
Course Overview
Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? The Skills Bootcamp in Leadership & Management is a fully funded, high-impact programme designed for individuals aged 19 years or older who are eager to develop the confidence, capabilities and mindset needed to lead effectively in today's workplaces.
Whether you're an aspiring team leader, a newly promoted manager, or an experienced professional looking to enhance your leadership style, this bootcamp equips you with the practical skills, emotional intelligence and behavioural insights to manage teams successfully and inspire those around you.
Delivered one day a week over 10 weeks, the programme combines interactive training sessions, action and accountability workshops, and 1:1 business coaching, giving learners the opportunity to apply learning directly within their work environments. It’s a hands-on, person-centred approach that builds authentic, confident leaders who can thrive in dynamic and often challenging workplace settings.
After The Course
What Will I Learn
The following modules will be delivered over the course of 10 weeks:
• EQ - Emotional intelligence in the workplace
• Personality preferences (understanding self and others) – MBTI/DISC
• Effective Communication & Empathy
• Dealing with conflict & difficult situations – TKI styles, preferences and impact
• Management and leadership styles, traits and qualities
• The role of Leaders and Managers throughout the Employee Lifecycle
• Team working and motivating staff
• Coaching and mentoring in the workplace
• Building Authentic, person-centred leadership
Each module consists of 4 hours of facilitated learning/training and 2 hours of ‘Action and accountability’ workshop (which takes place the week following the related learning), designed to take the theory and concepts and apply them to the learner’s work environment.
In addition, participants will be entitled to 1:1 coaching sessions, with a qualified business coach.
Participants will enjoy a wrap-around service, including dedicated Career Guidance single point of contact, employability sessions, mentor and pastoral support from qualified Yeovil College staff together with guidance and signposting, where appropriate.
Our Lecturers
Teaching Learning and Assessment
Teaching for this Skills Bootcamp is delivered face-to-face, creating an engaging and interactive environment for learning. Each session includes a blend of theory and practical application, allowing learners to explore leadership and management concepts and then immediately relate them to real workplace scenarios.
Participants will take part in discussions, reflective activities, role play exercises and peer-led tasks, all designed to build confidence and deepen understanding. Workbooks and accountability journals will be used throughout the course to capture learning, actions and personal development goals during each session.
All learners will have access to support from experienced tutors, coaches, and Yeovil College staff, with additional guidance available for those who may need extra help to succeed.
Course Expenses
Employer Referred
• As a small employer you will be required to pay a co-investment of 10% of the cost.
• As a large employer you will be required to pay a co-investment of 30% of the cost.
• Employees will need time away from work to attend weekly classes & coaching sessions.
Self-employed
• Fully Funded*

How Will I Be Assessed
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
• Be aged 19+.
• Employed or Self-Employed.
• Must live or work in Somerset or Dorset.
• Agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information.
• Only study one Skills Bootcamp within one financial year.
• Commit to attending 1 day of study each week.
This course also requires a good level of written English, so we ask for applicants to hold either a GCSE in English at grade C / 4, or an equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2).
