This qualification is for those who need to know more about the safety precautions to be taken when working on or near a high voltage hybrid or electric vehicles.

Those studying this course will learn the essential knowledge about, hybrid system components and operation, how to work safely on hybrid and related vehicle systems and how to work safely around electric vehicles.

After The Course

This qualification will help support your progression onto qualifications that further develop your knowledge and skills within a technical role, carrying out repair and replacement of high voltage components on Electric/Hybrid vehicles, such as the Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair and Replacement.

What Will I Learn

This qualification has been designed to give the you the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Electric/Hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out routine maintenance and repair activities (not voltage components or systems).
This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.

It contains one mandatory unit covering knowledge of:

  • Electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
  • Hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
  • How to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
  • Safely preparing the vehicle when carrying routine maintenance (NOT high voltage components or systems)

Teaching Learning and Assessment

This course will include a combination of tutor-led sessions, practical project working in our industry standard workshops, group discussions and post-training support activities.
Lessons are packed with hands-on practical activities. Assessment will be through a mixture of online and practical tasks.

Course Expenses

The fee for this course is £300.

How Will I Be Assessed

The course is assessed by a series of practical tasks and a knowledge exam.

Entry Requirements

Individuals interested in taking this course will need to possess appropriate vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge and skills at level 2.

Required Experience

This course is designed for those who already have experience of vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge.
