Fully online Access to Higher Education Diploma

This course is designed for people aged 19 or older

  • Do you want a career in midwifery?
  • Do you need a Level 3 Qualification to meet the entry requirements for university?
  • Do you want to study online from the comfort of your own home?
  • Are you unable to commit to full-time college-based study due to personal or employment reasons?

Your learning will be fully online and will be managed and supported using an innovative online platform, with ongoing support from the experienced Yeovil College Access to HE curriculum team.

As the course is fully online you must have strong ICT skills to enable you to cope with the demands of the course.
You will also need to have your own laptop or desktop computer.

After The Course

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to higher and degree level study in a range of midwifery disciplines and other healthcare professions. Our Lecturers

Our Access to Higher Education curriculum staff have an expert range of industry knowledge within the sector and can provide a key insight into the various avenues into health professions, including progression onto higher education programmes.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

The programme is unit based. Each unit includes a full range of online learning tasks and activities and is assessed via a variety of assessment tasks. You can access your learning and assessments fully flexibly at a time to suit you. You will be required to complete at least 15-20 hours per week in order to achieve this qualification. You will have access to regular online tutorials with experienced Access to Higher Education curriculum staff. As an adult learner at Yeovil College you will be able to access a range of support and services, including our dedicated Learning Resource Centre, a wealth of resources from our team of expert careers advisors, and a range of wellbeing support.

How Will I Be Assessed

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete the programme units. There will be a variety of written assessments including reports and essays.

Entry Requirements

Learners should be aged nineteen or above to undertake this qualification.

This course requires a good level of written English, so we ask for applicants to hold either a GCSE in English at grade C / 4, or an equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2).


Please note that progression onto some higher education programmes will require GCSE Maths and English passes and Functional Skills level 2 Maths and English may not be accepted. Please check the individual university entry requirements for more information.

Required Experience

Work experience in a health or social care setting is desirable.
