Course Overview
If you have a keen interest in the sustainability of our planet you will
find this A Level engaging and thought provoking. With topics that include the
biophysical environment, energy resources, pollution and sustainability there is
plenty to explore and research. Environmental science is a holistic subject
covering many interconnected systems and processes and delves into how humans
and the natural world are intrinsically linked together. A deeper understanding
of evidence-based information and quantitative data is also developed through a
range of practical activities.

- GCE A Level in Environmental Science
After The Course
You could go on to study a degree level qualification in Environmental Science, Geography, Geology or Biology. Alternatively, you might want to start an Apprenticeship, or enter the world of work. There is a wide range of job opportunities for you, from conservationist to sustainability officer, and with employers such as The Environment Agency.
What Will I Learn
Topics include: Paper 1 - The physical environment, Energy resources, pollution and research methods. Paper 2 – The living environment, biological resources, sustainability and research methods.

Teaching Learning and Assessment
Variety of delivery methods including classroom activities, professional discussions, digitally-enabled activity, presentations and directed study.
Tutorials
As a student, you will have weekly tutorials that are used for one to one support, progress updates, employability skills and preparation for University.
How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed by 2 exams at the end of the second year.
Entry Requirements
- You will need five GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C).
- Geography GCSE is an advantage but students who have not studied this may be considered.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 5 or above are needed to study this course.
Required Experience
No specific experience is required for this course but a keen interest in Environmental Science is essential.
