Course Overview

Would you like to more confident with those Do It Yourself (DIY) jobs you have around the house? Do you have a list of DIY jobs that you're worried about starting in case they create more jobs for you to fix anything you've done? Are you just about to move into your first home and want to be sure you can fix the basics? This free of charge course is designed for you.

We will work with the wish list of the group and this day will be tailored to cover the areas requested.

This course is designed to provide people with no, or little, previous DIY or maintenance skills an insight into tools, equipment and techniques to help them carry out simple DIY tasks.

Qualification Gained

This is a 'just for fun' course.

After The Course

This course will help build your confidence to tackle DIY at home. There are lots of opportunities to then build on your new skills and you would be welcome to discuss your options with your tutor or our dedicated careers advisors.

Some of the areas that can be covered, depending on the requirements of the class, are as follows:

  • Hanging pictures
  • Knowing your walls
  • Building the perfect tool kit
  • Repairing holes
  • Placing shelves
  • Changing cupboard door alignments
  • Using power tools
  • Drilling into external walls
  • Basic plumbing tasks
  • Understanding your fuse box
  • Hanging curtain rails
  • Small repair jobs
