Course Overview

This apprenticeship is for ambitious people who are new to finance or want to expand and develop their knowledge and skills for a successful career in the sector. By taking this apprenticeship, you can achieve a formal accountancy qualification while gaining hands on accountancy skills and experience in the workplace. You will learn a range of accountancy practices and techniques including costing and double entry bookeeping and also acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected from an Assistant Accountant.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

How Will I Be Assessed

The apprenticeship will be assessed by (1) a Synoptic exam which will assess the candidate's relevant technical knowledge. In order to pass this exam, a mark of at least 70% must be achieved. During the length of the apprenticeship, the candidate will be required (with our guidance) to prepare a portfolio of evidence which will demonstrate their achievement of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required in the Standard. Once this has been completed, the apprentice will also sit a professional discussion where they will be given the opportunity to further demonstrate their achievement of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required in the Standard. In order to achieve the apprenticeship, the candidate will need to achieve at least 70% in both the synoptic exam and the professional discussion. If their weighted average of both components is above 90% then a Distinction will be achieved. In addition to this, the candidates will have the opportunity to complete the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting, there will be 5 computer based examinations which will be sat at Yeovil College. These exams will be sat throughout the duration of the course. A mark of 70% is required to achieve a Pass in each examination.
