Sport Foundation Year - Level 2 (September 2024 Start)

The Sport Foundation Year is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required for learners to progress to study at Level 3 in Sport. You will be taught by highly qualified and passionate industry experts. Whether you are interested in progressing to study sport coaching, exercise science, fitness or obtain a place on the YTFC Elite Player Development Programme this qualification offers the required level of study in order to progress in your career aspirations within the sport industry. This qualification is also open to applicants who do not meet the entry requirements of the YTFC Elite Player Development Programme. Applicants on this pathway will be able to train on Thursday and Friday for 6 hours total duration as well as participate in fixtures on Wednesday and Saturday if selected.

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport.

Many students progress onto our Level 3 Sport programmes following successful completion of Level 2 Sport which include; Level 3 Sport Coaching & Development, YTFC Elite Player Development Programme, Level 3 Sport & Exercise Science (dependent on meeting entry requirements). Others progress directly into apprenticeships within the sport and active leisure industry.

The Level 2 Certificate in Sport qualification consists of 4 units to be studied throughout the year; participating in sport, anatomy and physiology for exercise, introduction to health, exercise & nutrition and development of personal Fitness through training.

You will be taught in a range of theory and practical based sessions, this will include participating in practical sport, gym and fitness sessions and classroom lectures. All components of this qualification are coursework based.

4 GCSE's at grade 3 and above, including English Language and Maths. If you fail to meet these entry requirements we recommend Sport Foundation Year (Level 1).
