Course Overview

The Elite Player Development Programme is designed to support talented and aspiring young footballers to develop their footballing ability by providing a high level of coaching as part of the YTFC Academy programme. You will study towards a BTEC L3 Sport in Coaching & Development. You will train at YTFC 4 days per week and study at college 4 days per week, with fixtures are played on a Wednesday and Saturday (depending on squad selections).

Work Experience & Industry Placements

Players train with YTFC on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1-3pm and play fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon in England Colleges FA SW Leagues and Saturdays for YTFC Under 18s if selected. College lectures take place between 9-12pm each day.

Qualification Gained

BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development.

After The Course

Students have gone on to gain scholarships at Universities in the USA. This course will enable you to go on to study degree courses in the UK, apprenticeships in a sport related subject, football or sports coach, Teaching Assistant, health development officer, sports development officer, leisure assistant roles, fitness instructor roles, and many more.

What Will I Learn

You will study a variety of different units that have been specifically chosen to support you in a football related career. Units include; Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry, Health, Wellbeing & Sport and Developing Coaching Skills. You will be able to apply your knowledge and experience within Football to your work.

English And Maths

English and Maths are applied in all units, for example working out the required calorie intake of a professional football or communicating with a group in a coaching session.

Our Lecturers

You will be taught by a range of highly qualified and experienced lecturers.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Lessons will consist of a mix of theory and practical sessions. You will take part in practical team sports on a weekly basis and links between practical demonstration and application to theory content will be highlighted and discussed.

Tutorials

A range of weekly tutorials specific to both your wider personal development as well as football specific tutorials.

Course Expenses

All football and course kit to be purchased through Yeovil Town FC. Please note that optional trips and visits may incur additional fees.

How Will I Be Assessed

There will be a variety of assessment methods including practical demonstrations, written reports and presentations. Your football performances may also be used towards assessment.

Entry Requirements

Diploma – 4 GCSE’s grade 4 and above (including Maths and English Language). Extended Diploma – 5 GCSE’s grade 4 and above (including Maths and English Language). If you do not meet the entry requirements for this course we recommend Sport Foundation Year (Level 2 Sport) where players will be able to continue with EPDP training on Thursday and Friday each week.

Required Experience

You should be playing a good level of football and show commitment towards your development as a player and in your learning equally.
