Residential Childcare (England) L3 Diploma
Course Overview
This course is designed for people aged 19 or older who are working as a care practitioner in a Residential children's home. This is a blended learning course, delivered distantly with tutor/ assessor via e-portfolio, to accommodate shift patterns. Master classes can be delivered in college or workplace if required. The course focuses on competence based reflective practice and evidence gathering to meet the criteria for mandatory and optional units.
This qualification supports learners to reach a level of knowledge and skills that will facilitate progression into the sector.

What Will I Learn
The qualification enables you to gain essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in residential childcare settings, including well-being and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour, and positive outcomes.
You will also have the opportunity to cover optional topics which are particularly suited to specific residential childcare and respite care settings you are currently working in.

How Will I Be Assessed
You will be invited to complete an initial assessment to help us understand your starting point and if there are any specific ways that we can support you to enable you to study successfully.
Throughout the course, you will have a series of assessments, workplace observations and professional discussions that will be conducted by one of our workplace assessors and you will be given assignments throughout the course for completion by strict deadlines. These will be accessed via our online learning platform.
Entry Requirements
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement in a residential childcare setting, as they need to show competence in both knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
You will be expected to complete an enhanced DBS with the workplace and must be over 18 due to the nature of the programme/ role you will be undertaking.
