Course Overview

The Level 5 Management and Leadership Diploma at Yeovil College is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (C.M.I.), an authoritative and respected organisation in the disciplines of Management and Leadership. The level 5 diploma will enable learners to take their management and leadership skills to a higher level.
The diploma is ideal for the development of Operational Managers, Divisional Managers, Departmental Managers, Regional Managers and Specialist Managers. The qualification is aimed at benefitting practising managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner.
The diploma gives you a fully comprehensive bank of the skills and knowledge required to be a manager as part of an organisation, as well as the ability to apply your learning in the context of another organisation or industry sector. The full Diploma course is made up of 8 units and takes approximately 12 months to complete, if you are able to study approximately 10 hours a week. Learners who complete all eight units, will be awarded the CMI Diploma in Management and Leadership. The diploma qualification also forms the basis for enabling practising managers to go on and achieve Chartered Manager Status.

The course is taught by well qualified and experienced lecturers with relevant sector experience and expertise.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Teaching takes place on the Yeovil College campus. Learners for the course will come together to study relevant concepts, theories and general practices for each unit of study. Learning takes the form of participating in lecturer led classroom sessions, where notes will be taken, relevant resources provided and plentiful learner Q and A and discussion takes place.

Tutorials

One to one tutorial support will be made readily available.

The full cost for this course is £1750.

How Will I Be Assessed

Assessment is in the form of formal word processed assignments, one for each unit of study. Typically, assignments are 2500 to 3000 words long, depending on the word count dictated by C.M.I. Assignments are intended to fulfil the requirements of assessment criteria as outlined by C.M.I. Online resources are available, via the C.M.I. website. The lecturer will also provide relevant resources to aid in completion of assignments.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will need a minimum of 5 G.C.S.E. passes, which must include English and Maths. Ideally applicants will be in a job role, where they have some managerial/supervisory responsibility, or they are looking to move into a role imminently, where they will have such responsibilities. The course manager will need to interview each applicant in order to assess their overall suitability.

Required Experience

Ideally applicants will have some experience of junior management responsibilities, or of being in a supervisory role, though the course manager will assess each applicant's suitability through a one to one interview at the time of application.
