Course Overview
Would you like to be able to give new life to old but serviceable pieces of furniture? Do you want to save an old table from landfill? Or give your lamp a new lease of life?
This is a half day, free of charge, programme that will, through demonstration and tuition, build your skills and confidence in the upcycling of small furniture items. We welcome you to bring a small item with you so that our staff can help you with ideas and techniques. Our staff will share their wealth of knowledge and experience with you so that you will leave with your started project and the confidence to finish it at home.

This is a 'just for fun' course.
After The Course
This course will help build your confidence to continue to upcycle items at home. There are also lots of opportunities to then build on your new skills, including construction and carpentry courses and you would be welcome to discuss your options with your tutor or our dedicated careers advisors.
What Will I Learn
Items you could bring to upcycle:
A small table, a small stool, a magazine rack, small boxes or key racks, or anything else that you can easily carry into college. Please only bring one item.
Techniques that may be included (depending on requirements of class):
Preparing your item, sanding, painting, varnishing, small repairs, repurposing adjustments and general tool and equipment tips.

The course is taught by well qualified and experienced lecturers who are dedicated to ensuring student success through effective curriculum delivery and high-quality student support. The team includes staff with relevant sector experience and expertise.
Teaching Learning and Assessment
This is a practical course and you will have the opportunity to familiarise and use a range of tools and practice techniques in a safe and controlled environment.

This is free course for all applicants.

There is no assessment for this course.
Entry Requirements
This course is open to anyone with an interest in upcycling.
Required Experience
No previous experience is necessary.
