YEOVIL COLLEGE IS OPENING ITS DOORS FOR NEW STUDENTS’ DAY
Yeovil College can formally announce that New Students’ Day will take place as a physical event this year, operating under strict government guidance. All new students who have applied to study full-time at Yeovil College from September 2021 can expect to receive their invites after May half term.
Students will be split into their new curriculum and subject areas and invited onto campus between Tuesday 29th June and Thursday 1st July. During this time, they will have the opportunity to meet their subject tutors and new classmates, take a tour of the campus, including viewing the £4.5 million worth of updates and new facilities, and they will start the progress of transitioning to college life.
New students will also receive their YC Edge summer pack during this event, which is bespoke to Yeovil College and contains a serious of workbooks and taster sessions to support the transition, maintain strong and positive learning habits and to ensure they start Yeovil College is an extremely positive way. Research shows that students who complete this work are further ahead than their peers and complete their study doing better and achieving higher than their counterparts. All detail will be available after May half term, so keep watching our social media channels and your emails.
For some this will be the first time that they have returned to the Yeovil College campus since Year 8 and for many, it may be their first time on campus. Either way they will experience huge differences to the college campus, facilities, technology and resources, made possible through T Level funding, Institute of Technology Funding (IoT), of which Yeovil College is the only IoT Centre in South Somerset.
Yeovil College has a £30 million plus ambitious Campus investment plan, which will be delivered over the next four years. They have recently been selected as one of only 16 colleges in the UK to receive their share of FE capital transformation fund, which is worth £1.5 billion and was introduced to rebuild college estates and create modern, fit-for-purpose spaces to meet the needs of students and the communities they serve.
