Yeovil College and Yeovil Town FC announce trials for our Elite Player Development Programme

Yeovil Town FC are pleased to confirm that another set of trials will be taking place for our Elite Player Development Programme, during May half term on June 1st and June 3rd, 1pm to 3pm at Huish Park.

The programmewhich is jointly offered by Yeovil Town FC and Yeovil College, is an exciting opportunity for Year 12 and 13 BTEC students to continue their full-time education within a professional football environment.

The football programme training is based at Huish Park with games across the South West, and studies based at Yeovil College offer BTEC Level 2 & 3 options, retakes of GCSEs and opportunities for additional coaching qualifications alongside the BTEC programme. For those exceeding in all areas, opportunities to train with the Yeovil Town under 18 Scholars and play in the EFL Youth Alliance league are also available.

First team manager Darren Sarll has given the scheme his personal backing, commenting when the scheme was launched: “At 16 I got the biggest knock back of my life. Within days I agreed to partake in the very same scheme, and I found my calling and future trade, in coaching.

“This scheme gave me the platform to qualify, train every day and practices my trade as a coach. I have overseen many of these programmes since and have ex-students who are now Physio’s, Head of Analysis, Heads of Coaching and most importantly players who all live in the EFL and Premier League.

“These are wonderful programmes that I am looking to build at Yeovil Town FC to ensure we give focused, young, determined people the best possible chance to achieve their life goals. I want this football club in partnership with Yeovil College to be the hub of creating really positive futures for this community and Somerset area.”

All upcoming trials will take place with the latest social distancing measures enforced, ensuring all applicants and club staff are operating within a safe environment. For information or to register, contact warren.aplin@yeovil.ac.uk
