A new course combining workshop-based learning with online distance learning has been introduced to Yeovil College’s Motor vehicle portfolio, Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles, to support adults to change careers and move into the sector.

This study programme will provide students with the skills required to perform vehicle servicing and maintenance operations on a variety of modern vehicles. It is aimed at individuals who may wish to change career or gain an industry recognised qualification in the automotive repair sector. Students will study engine, brake, steering and electrical systems to provide you with the skills required to perform vehicle servicing and maintenance operations on a variety of modern vehicles. Assessment is via a mixture of online theory exams and practical workshop assessments. Progression from this course naturally leads to our Level 2 Motor Vehicle course or seek direct employment opportunities within the Automotive sector.

Rob Stuckey, Curriculum Area Manager Said: “This is an exciting development and addition to our expanding portfolio of Motor Vehicle study programmes. We are focused on providing the sector with the skills they require to meet the ever-growing demand.
