Students will experience and develop all the skills they need to prepare for University, entry onto a Foundation Course or Apprenticeships within Creative Industries.

What Will I Learn

Students will develop the practical , theoretical and written skills needed to progress in Photography. You will explore different genres of Photography practically and theoretically. Developing good camera control skills is the basis for a well exposed image and we aim to support your ideas and compositons within the darkroom and digitally, fine tuning them using Adobe editing. We aim for you to achieve a very good skills base to progress further in this field and we will show you how to present your work professionally through practical portfolio and online presence. Students will also benefit from working with a freelance photographer on live news and events which will give them a real insight into working within the photographic industry.

The course is taught by well qualified and experienced lectures who are dedicated to ensuring student success through effective curriculum delivery and high-quality pastoral support. The team includes staff with relevant sector expertise and are a very experienced team who actively exhibit or publish their own work.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Variety of delivery methods including classroom activities, professional discussions, digitally-enabled activity, presentations and directed study.

Tutorials

As a student, you will have weekly tutorials that are used for one to one support, progress updates, employability skills and preparation for University.

How Will I Be Assessed

Assessment will take place during a project or topic and at the end.

Entry Requirements

  • Five GCSE's at grade 9-4, including Maths and English
  • If you achieve lower than a 4 in Maths and English, a willingness to complete a re-take to achieve the qualification during the course is essential.
  • Grade 4 or above in GCSE Art is desirable.

Required Experience

No experience needed however previous experience will be supported and extended.
