Course Overview

The T Level Foundation is a stepping-stone specifically set up for learners who have fallen short of the entry requirements to enter the full T Levels Technical Qualification. It is a custom-designed programme fitting the equivalent of a Level 3 qualification but taking alongside vendor qualifications to further prepare learners for the rich depth of content the T Level Technical qualification presents. It is a mixture of classroom learning and online vendor courses to boost technical knowledge for learners. Learners who complete this course may also progress into apprenticeship, work or other Level 3 Diploma course in IT.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

About 50 hours of work experience is expected.

Qualification Gained

Successful completion of this T Level Foundation programme will lead to the award of a nationally recognised L3 Certificate in Cyber Security, plus additional vendor certificates from Cisco. This enables learners to acquire strong technical knowledge and IT configuration skills for network devices to harness their progression to any one of our two T Levels Digital programmes.

What Will I Learn

• Introduction to cyber security • IT essentials • Understand cyber security principles • Threat intelligence in cyber security • Cyber security testing, vulnerabilities and controls • Cyber security incident response • Understand legislation and ethical conduct within cyber security • Professional skills and behaviours for cyber security

English And Maths

English and/or Maths would be studied alongside the T Level Foundaton Programme if a candidate has not already achieved a grade 4 or above in any of these.

Our Lecturers

The lecturing team consist of highly qualified and experienced practitioners who are dedicated to ensuring students success through effective curriculum delivery and pastoral support. Most of the current lecturers have had relevant industry experience in IT.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Learners will benefit from a combination of tutor-led sessions, lectures, group discussions and research. The learning environment is rich with technology tools both in the practical IT lab rooms and our Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
Lessons are packed with hands-on practical activities and use of simulation software to familiarise learners with collaborative development and teamwork. In addition to this, learners will also get the opportunity to put their skills to work in a 35-hour industry placement - thus benefiting from the support of professionals who work in the digital industry.

How Will I Be Assessed

The qualification is assessed through assignment, coursework and portfolio reports.

Entry Requirements

A GCSE grade profile with a mix of grade levels will be accepted, provided there is a strong commitment to work towards achieving Maths and English (if not already achieved) alongside the curriculum for the Foundation programme. A Level 2 qualification in a relevant IT course would also be considered.
