Course Overview
This programme allows learners to develop and practice the skills required
to progress in the world of hospitality and catering. While on the programme you
will have the opportunity to prepare dishes using ingredients across all food
groups, attend industry training in our award winning Da Vinci Restaurant and
develop your customer care and employability skills.
Work Experience & Industry Placements
35 Hours Work experience is required alongside this qualification. This will be a combination of External placement that needs to be sourced and confirmed by October half term and Internal work experience with time spent in the Colleges Food Court and DaVinci Restaurant kitchens.
Qualification Gained
Level 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery.

What Will I Learn
You will develop the skills required to gain competence in methods of Professional Cookery and equipment use across a range of commodities.

Teaching Learning and Assessment
You will be taught in a range of different settings and complete both practical and theory based activities. You will be assessed on your abilites at regular intervals throughout your course. You will complete both written and online based assessments as well as being observed developing your practical skills.
Course Expenses
You will be required to purchase Kit and uniform and have the opportunity to pay for educational visits.
How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed in the practical environment and will also be required to complete assignments and tests.
Entry Requirements
Good communication skills and personal presentation.
You will be required to take part in a practical skills scan that will help us determine your starting point.
